A launcher on an Android device controls the look and feel of your home screen. When you install a new launcher, it changes your home screen and some other elements to offer you a new layout and design. It does this to provide you with different ways to interact with your phone and usually aims to improve upon the default user experience. So, when you noticed your home screen changed, that’s the new launcher doing its job. You can customize it according to your liking in the launcher settings.

When you install a new launcher, it might rearrange your apps or place them in a new location. Don’t worry, your apps are not deleted. They are just located in your App drawer. This drawer can be accessed by a button on your home screen that often looks like a grid or a series of dots. If you can’t immediately see it, swipe up or down on your home screen, or try searching for the particular app in your device’s search bar.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open your app drawer. This is generally done by tapping an icon that looks like a grid or circle filled with small squares or dots, or by swiping up from the bottom of your home screen.
  2. Find the app you want to have on your home screen. You might have to scroll to find it.
  3. Once you find the app, press and hold your finger on the app’s icon.
  4. Continue holding and drag the icon out of the app drawer.
  5. You’ll find yourself back on the home screen. Just drag the icon to where you want it in the home screen, then let go.

Now, your favorite app is available directly from your home screen. Repeat these steps for all the apps you want quick access to. Remember, you can always move these icons later by pressing, holding and dragging them to a new location

A launcher is an app that replaces your phone’s home screen and app drawer. It allows you to customize the look and feel of your phone’s interface, as well as add new features. Launchers come in two main categories: design launchers and smart launchers. Design launchers focus on letting you change the entire layout of your phone’s home screen. You can choose different icon packs, change the grid size, add widgets, and more. Smart launchers, on the other hand, seek to put the most relevant information front and center throughout your day. They may use AI to learn your habits and preferences, and then show you the apps and content that you’re most likely to use at that moment.

Here are some of the benefits of using a launcher:

  • You can customize the look and feel of your phone’s interface.
  • You can add new features to your phone.
  • You can make your phone easier to use.
  • You can improve your productivity.

To change your Android launcher, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon to open Settings. Then, scroll down and select Apps. From there, tap the three dots in the corner of your screen and tap Default Apps.

This will show you a list of options for default apps. Among them, you should see Home App or Launcher. Tap this option to see a list of apps that you can choose as your default launcher. Tap the one you’d like, and this app will be used as your default launcher until you change it again.* This process may vary slightly based on launcher type and device.
